India Wins Historic Double Team Gold at FIDE Chess Olympiad 2024

The 2024 Chess Olympiad is over. Team India shines at the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad. In an exciting finish, chess players Gukesh Dommaraju, Arjun Erigaisi, and Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu led the Indian men’s team to victory against Slovenia, winning with a score of 3.5- 0.5. This impressive win secured their gold medal, finishing four points ahead of five other teams! The United States took home the silver medal, thanks to a big win by GM Wesley. Uzbekistan secured a bronze medal after GM Shamsiddin Vokhidov’s win against France. Unfortunately, China, Serbia, and Armenia just missed out on the medals but performed at an extraordinary level. In the women's tournament, Team India also celebrated a historic victory, earning gold for the first time! After a strong performance against Azerbaijan, winning 3.5-0.5, they watched as Kazakhstan tied their match with the U.S. team, securing India's top spot. Congratulations to both Indian teams for their fantastic achievements at the Olympiad!
